Marlin Lever Action Rifles

Henry's are nice and have outstanding customer service. The only reason I sold mine was to buy the 39A.
I may have to give their customer service a call. I have a few small areas on the ribs of the octagon barrel that have no blueing (sp) on them. I noticed this shortley after buying the gun several years ago, but I never got around to getting it fixed. I keep it well oiled so it doesn't rust. Maybe a local gunsmith could re-blue just the barrel.

After several years of ownership, I don't know if Henry's would be willing to warrant to barrel, but I'm pretty sure they'd re-blue it for you.
You can buy bluing kits...I can't attest to how good they are since I've never used one (relatively few of my firearms are blued and the ones that are still look good).

I wouldn't expect it done under warranty. It was my fault for being lazy and not sending it back promptly. I am going to try a local gunsmith because I don't like the thought of shipping firearms. I've seen firsthand how packages are treated at overnight shipping companies:D.

I re-blued a shotgun barrel when I was a kid. It had gotten rusty due to humidity problems in storage, and had to be sanded out and re-blued. From what I remember, it was fairly easy to do and came out great.

I have blued several over the years and they also turn out pretty well. Birchwood Casey carries a decent set foe around $20 I think. Read the instructions (twice):D you'll get a better finish. I also believe they have a touch up pen for blueing small imperfections.

I have a Marlin SS1894 in .44 mag. It's one of my favorite fifles for shooting hogs. I have a Skinner peep sight with a williams fiber optic front, Wild West trigger and extractor. I'm in the process of changing the lever to a DRC firearms stainless lever (in between a big loop and factory loop). Also have a Montana sling. It makes for a real handy carrying around gun.

I love Marilin guns. The very best rifle ever made was a Walnut Model 60. Period. I have an older Marlin 30-30 and a 1895G Guide Gun in 45-70. That is my hands down favorite gun. Those 45-70's really come alive with Buffalo Bore or handloaded ammo.

I love my Marlin 30-30 lever action, and right out of the box you could drive nails with it. I have a Winchester 9422 that is the most fun to shoot. The boys can fight over that one when I'm gone. The 22 lr is great but I wish I had gotten it in 22 win mag.

I too love old Marlins like my 94 in 44-40. Last time I was in a gun shop I tried a new Marlin lever. It felt like someone tossed sand in the actiion and other fit and finish issues were evident. When I asked the clerk his reply was that all Marlins are like that now. If you want to try a good home blue, try Blue Wonder -- expensive but seems to work well.

Yeah, I've heard the same thing...since Remington bought Marlin.
