Massey 135 Diverter Valve

Hi,

I opened the two bolts on my diverter valve which is located on the rhs just in front of the seat.
There is a long pipe/cylinder going down in to the transmission.

After I bolted it back in place it does not work, the lift arms won't work any more.
It feels like it is not sitting exactly in place - maybe a 1/2 mm or less off but just not seated correctly.
I have played around with it trying to get it to work but no joy.
Any ideas anyone??

It's more than 1/2 mm off, its sitting between the side wall and the hydraulic pump (don't ask me how I know). The oil from the pump flows back into the sump instead of going to your valve.You have to empty the greater part of the transmission oil and then open the round opening on the right side of the tractor so that you can guide the tube back into its hole. Be careful to place the O rings correctly at both ends of the tube and one under the valve. Then pour the oil back into the transmission and you are OK to go.

The loader rests on brackets pinned to the rear axle. It is worked by a single cylinder underneath the tractor. Difficult to make photographs of the relevant parts. Here is what I could find.

I had mine out to replace the O-rings and did not have any problems getting the long tube to seat. Its been a couple of years but think I remember feeling slight drag of the o-ring to know it was seated. If you do pull off the side cover, take some pictures. My pump pressure ocilates so the 3PH goes up with a jerky motion. It would be nice to actually see what the filter sceen looks like. IE should I have a new one before opening it up or can the one in there be cleaned.

If you are very lucky, you can lower the long tube so that it goes straight into the right hole and you don't lose the O ring on the way, but that seldom happens. The safest way to do it is open the round hole with the gauge for hydraulic oil level (red arrow) in the right hand side and guide it with your hand.
You could also do it from the other side, but it is more difficult to reassemble the rear PTO lever correctly afterwards.
