Massey 165 Diesel Charging/Generator Wiring Issues

Hello,

This is my first post. I've been reading some great info from here the last few days.

I have just recently purchased a Massey 165 Diesel. I have noticed some wiring issues.

1. Battery does not seem to be charging.
2. It looks like the wiring has been hacked up. The light switch is hooked up directly to the battery. The starter solenoid only has 2 wires connected. It has the large cable from the positive terminal and the hot wire from the ignition switch. The other post has nothing connected to it.
3. The fuel gauge and ammeter are not working.

I have also noticed that there is something missing on the dash board. On the lower right below the fuel gauge is a large hole where something has been removed. Can anyone tell me what was there at one time?

Can anyone steer me in the right direction as to what needs to be done to correct the issues?

Does anyone know of a complete alternator conversion kit?
