I don't understand why Massey CUT's are not more popular. They seem to be great designes especially the new 15 series. I also think the 12 series is good, but the 14's might have been a step backward particularly in ergonomics (1428 shifter below the seat). There seem to be many dealers around and the prices are resonable especially when compared to DEERE, whose value tractor the 790 does not impress me at all with it's cramped operator area. I don't know much about Kubota but they seem to be popular, however I just don't like the looks of them (personal opinion). I bet the 15 series will increase Massey's market share. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Massey compacts have had at least two things against them. One thing is that AGCO doesn't market anything very well. Two:to many old time dealers that don't want to try anything that is different. The BIGGEST thing that bothers me about AGCO is that they aren't smart enough to know where their money comes from. The only reason that they have 21 companys under their roof is because of the income from Massey Ferguson sales. Yet, every stupid thing that you see them doing has to do with some stupid thing that has AGCO plastered all over it. They have spent millions of dollars to change colors, change boxes at dealers, add that stupid AGCO brand. That money should have been spent to promote and develop MF, not to develop some dead brand. Wake up AGCO and see which side of the toast has the butter on it.
On the topic of 1200s and 1400s, I like my 1440 a lot better than the MF 1250 that I did have.

Yup, I've wondered that too. I think Jerry may have called it pretty close on marketing issues.

I have to agree with you too that I'm sold on MF. I too looked at the other brands and just plain liked the MF best. Simplicity, quiet engines and price. I also like the 12 series best too, not just because I have a 1240, but they seem to just have more features than the 1400's, like that fender shifter you mention. Bottom line is they're all good and when the time comes for a new tractor it'll probably be another MF.

Just browsing throught past posts and found this and must reply. I did a lot of research on the different brands before I decided on a Massey. I found that the specs were better more often than not for comparable models/size and the prices are much better too. M-F is not real popular around where I live and I don't understand why, I love my tractor.

They could use some marketing pointers from John Deere. There are John Deere shirts and clothes worn all over the U.S. by people who've never even driven a tractor. Several places I've been, there's John Deere shopping stores containing nothing but clothes and collectables. You even go to Tractor-Supply or any toy store, and it's filled with John Deere stuff. John Deere even has a company show on the RFD channel on satellite once a month. I feel JD has dominated popularity because of marketing. I agree, Massey needs to pump-up their advertising.

The mother company, Iseki, is one of the largest equipment manufacturers in the world. Everyone else in the world but us knows how good they are. I have sold the grey market Japanese tractors for several years. I have had over 150 go through. My tractor in the garage is an Iseki. It is the kissin cousin to the MF1125 , just painted blue.

Iseki internet site has some amazing things on it. That is the Japanese site not the Americanized Iseki site. You have to do a translation, but it is worth it. Some of the systems that they have are unheard of in the States.

In January AGCO announced it was reducing some 26 brand names down to three AGCO, Massey Ferguson, & Challenger. The Caterpillar display at the World Ag Expo in California had two red MF tractors in it, alot of upset dealers. That should give you a good indication which direction they are going. Alot of the Cat dealers in Ca. have signed MF franchises and are carrying red MF along with there yellow Challengers

CMunger,

You wouldn't happen to have a link to this information would you. Would make some good reading.
I'm really curious to what brands are being rebadged.
