I have a MF178 and need to put in an access track that will have an up and down grade. What is the safe grade for the MF178 - I have a RPOS but am not keen to test it out!!

Alternatively - where would I find out this info??

Any help appreciated.

hey aussiepete,

I've been thinking, and looking around for an answer to your dilema. About the only thing I can think of besides trying to contact one of the European testing facilities like DLG or Silsoe,is to try pudding at his website. www.puddingsworld.com Or maybe Rory Day at Classic Tractor Magazine would be of some help. www.classictractormagazine.co.uk

If you looking for a number then it depends on lots of factors.
- Size of tyres - alters the centre of gravity and there are several sizes by MF.
- Water ballast in tyres - quantity
Most important though is the weight and use of implement.
Traveling downhill dragging a rear implement is quite safe. Traveling up hill doing the same is not a good idea. Reverse up the hill if possible, Most tractor roll overs occur end to end. A good operator will know what is safe and will always try to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible .
