Massey Question

I asked in a different thread a question which I think got side tracked. Basically I'm interested in a used Massey Ferguson around 50hp, preferably from the late eighties to early 2000s, a 245, 250, 253, 271, or something comparable, but I'm curious about any endemic problems folks might know of.

For example, my grandfather has a 471 that had a leak on the oil seal of the injector pump which led to a big expensive mess. As he discovered from his mechanic, this problem wasn't just with his tractor: I'm looking to avoid problems like this. I know my question is a bit broad, but I'm curious to hear what folks know.

I have a great Massey 240, probably an early 1980's model. From what I have seen and read, the English built Masseys were very basic and dependable, and well thought off. Parts are still available and it is an easy engine to work on. I have enjoyed mine. But thats all I know!

I have had a MF 255 with Perkins diesel engine for several years with very few problems.
Its been a great machine for me.
