I have a warranty issue on my 1740. its been at the Massey dealer since November and parts coming March ... Well march is almost over and no parts. I'm so frustrated right now. There is a good Kubota shop and I would love to just go buy a replacement. This is my first tractor and loved it until it stopped working. I doubting Massey quality and serviceability right now.

What, if any, recourse do I have? I could purchase a new Kubota and wait for the Massey to be operational and sell when that is possible. I would feel somewhat cautious about selling it to anyone.

I have 17 acres and it's time to start spring work.

Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear that, what's the issue? There have been a lot of long lead times with tractor parts, in late '20 I waited a little over six months for all the parts to finally arrive. I actually took the tractor and put almost 100 hrs on it before they had the all the parts in then I took it back so they could hang them, think the third function took the longest which isn't even them it's just an off the shelf parts kit they use as far as I know.

Most lemon laws require a series of failures on a single machine over a span not just 1 long service span. If it's parts/supply chain theres nothing that can be done other than trying to sell the machine and buying a new one. That said, good luck finding inventory that isn't inflated out of sight

Rent a tractor and man up. Every dealer is in the same canoe. My dealer has a long row of Kubota tractors he cannot deliver because they are all missing attachments like loaders.

I don't 'love' any of my tractors. They are all machines that perform work. Not a human being so they cannot give you affection in return.

I bet the tractor is probably a pretty good tractor and you just got one with a part defect. Many of those little masseys are now made in Chinese plants and parts can be tough to get over here. Many parts are bobbing up and down off the coast of California as we speak.
Baling twine from China was in containers off shore a few months ago and couldnt make it to port.

Call regional office...
Reddogs is right -- get hold of your regional service rep. They have a lot of clout in the AGCO world and he may well have some alternatives to either speed the parts, arrange a loaner, or otherwise ease your problem. Get the Regional rep phone number from your dealer. They could not/should not refuse to give you the number. Everyone concerned needs to be told this is NOT an adversarial situation, it is us and us trying to get things done.

Thanks for all the comments. I have come up with a couple of other ideas so will work on those. I believe the dealer is looking for a loaner. what is wrong with tractor: I believe it is some sort of cooling filter. I had been having water in diesel line. The had cleaned all the hoses, tanks etc the week before. When I got it home and fired it up it blew all kinds of white smoke but ran for a few minutes. I'd have pedal to the floor but little response... kept getting slower and finally quit.

They were scratching their heads but one of the regional reps came and helped determine it was a defective filter in the cooling system. It sounds like it's not just "a" part but quite a few parts. they have had it sitting in one of their bays, dismantled, since I took it in. Thats the story. I will have patience but need to get spring projects going. I need to ask if they have any kind of a loaner and pray they find the part somewhere.

The good news its all warranty work!
