Great feeling isn't it? Especially after you've done such a great job.

I recently asked TBN if someone had interest in making a column base and I ultimately found a very nice older fellow locally that made them. This is what he made

I went up/down 2 flights of stairs to “micromeasure’ this round part to try to get the column to fit as snugly as possible

*what I mean is, each circle was carried up/down 2 flights of stairs about 10 times EACH /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif as I shaved the bare minimum off so that it would fit right the FIRST time, rather than to cut it too much & ruin the piece.. it was the up/down/up/down incessently, that wore me out.

Fitting pretty nicely, raised the “rings” so I could screw it down to the base

Thank you... and yes, it really was a lot of work. Then again, bro in law built shell and other than drywall installation & kitchen cabinets, we've done 100% of the rest, including sealing (tar) the entire backside of house that was under grade. Flooring, trim, fixtures, fans, pond, rock retaining walls, waterfall, flagstone patios/sidewalks, doors, insulation, phone wiring & now columns & windows /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So, we've done a lot of work overall.

I personally sanded the entire exterior with a 5" sander prior to staining it. Wore my little fingers out /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

we've been toying with an idea to swap the walk in closet and M/B room. This, would put the bath on two outside corners and the closet with only one out side wall. Would take a lot in configuring the plumbing and electrical, the rest wouldn't bother me too much..
