A borie is a stone shepherd house, they are built like igloos. the one we worked on is missing the top stones, which we do have to get repaired. the reason they uild out of stone is becasue the stone in our area is pretty light and easy to cut/break. The shepherds grazed their sheep in the French Alps in the summer and then drove them down to this small area in France for the winters. We have 3 very good bories on our property ad 2 "ruins". It is the name of our olive Oil, Mas Des Bories. A mas means a substancial farm house. Meaning not a chateau but it isn't a little cottage either. Kind of like an estate i guess is the meaning.
My brother in law does not have the temperment to be a teacher, unfortunately. I will get a picture of the cocktail table next time i have a chance, that is amazing. To me it is even more beautiful than his main furniture pieces.
