Not sure on the LT155 but my 855 seems to be some kind of fiberglass composite. I patched a hole in it using plumbers epoxy putty. It's the stuff that comes in a tube and you cut or break a piece off then knead the components together to make them harden.

For a crack I would probably use fiberglass mat underneath then fill with putty to finish the top side. I need to do some fender repairs on my backhoe one day and that will be my patch of choice.

I've used Q bond on my 4200 hood and it worked good.

That stuff is great! It's marketed under a different name here in Aus (or maybe I bought a different 'make'), something like 'instant weld'... anyway, I'd just filled my brand-spankin-new (China made) ballast roller when the weld around the fill-hole began to leak. One application of this stuff, just the way you described it with the kneading, and that fixed the problem. It's tight and leak free for the past 3 years.

I use to use it to replace broken outboard motor skegs. Could shape, sand, and paint it so you couldn't tell the skeg was ever broken. Held up fine till you hit another rock. Just like the original aluminum.

to find out what the hood is made of look up burn test of plastic car bumpers and car parts and by the way it burns tells you what kind of plastic it is. also if repairing, use screen door screen as a stiffener .

My 4310 hood was made of ABS plastic, it was colored all the way through. not sure what John Deere uses now, the hood on my 3046R is plastic but it's painted,
