Where do I begin.....
Well, so much for the best of plans. This year I decided to cut down on the size of the garden somewhat. Last year we did 72 tomato plants. This year, only 36. Are we going to have enough? I'd say yes.

We do about 120 qts of quartered tomatoes, 90 to 120 qts of juice, and some salsa, plus what we eat along the way.

Here's ONE DAY picking. 3-3/4 bushels. Won't be like this EVERY day, but the last 4, and probably the next week will.

Picked 3 bushels of green bell peppers in the last 2 days too. Dehydrator running full tilt. House smells like peppers. Dogs walking around sneezing....

Maybe next years garden will be even smaller.

1/2 Bushel baskets shown.

I'm fighting blight too. We have been for the past 3 years. I've got 12 plants that show ZERO effects. Somewhere, I wrote down the varieties and in what order I planted them. Gotta find 'em and see what type they are. The old classic "Big Boy" sure didn't stand up well to blight. Some of them are completely bare of leaves already. I was spraying fungaside every 8 days up 'till fruit started turning. Still didn't stop it.

Back when the kids were still eating me out of house and home, we grew anywhere from 250 to a high one year of 600 plants. Sold 'em to a commercial "canning factory" near here. That ain't nuttin' but hard work.

Next year, I'm PROBABLY dropping back to maybe a dozen plants.

Family gets fed, then all the neighbors. We take a few to a couple families at church, the I take what's left to work. I get more pleasure out of giving stuff away than I do eating it myself.

Aint much that is better than taking a vine rip tomatoe, slicing it thick, and putting it on a nice wheat bread with a slathering of Mayo, and a dash of salt! Mater sandwiches; yum!

I had 60 tomato plants last year and there for about a week or so during peak production I was picking 100-200 tomatoes a day.I was going to scale back this year but somehow I ended up with 75 plants. Several heirloom varieties for a change.

We only have twenty plants but it's more than the wife and I can use. The wife canned 16 quarts today and there's probably still that many more to do right now. People will take them if you will pick them and haul tomatoes to them. They say they just don't have the time or space to grow tomatoes. I'd grow them in a planter if I had to, we eat them everyday.

Rady Welcome to TBN! I have always thought it is very nice if, when people register, they fill in a little something about where they are located. I was interested to know about where the tomatoe blight was happening which you mentioned you have been experiencing, but your location is not showing.
