It has been 4 years since I got my Max 22 delivered and I thought some additional thoughts were in order.
The Bad first.
1. The paint does fade, not as bad as the older ones, but it is inexcusable in my opinion.
2. Front U-Joint cover design is poor, keeps coming loose.
3. Odd noise from front end when working on uneven ground.
The Good
1. The tractor is just built tough!!
2. Exceeded all expectations in terms of lifting, even knowing what the specs "claimed"
3. Comfortable seat and operating position. This is very important for a 6 foot person on a sub compact
4. Runs like a top, the Mitsubishi engine doesn't miss a beat.
5. Attachments work great, blower is a beast, the loader is very durable and easy to get on and off.
So, obviously the good far outweighs the bad. The odd noise in the front end is when the front wheels are going over large obstacles on the ground on one side only. I have looked for grease points and haven't been able to find where to lubricate the front axle pivot point. The u-joint cover isn't a huge deal, but when it is resting on the shaft it makes a nasty rattling sound. About once a year I have to re-attach the cover. The worst offense is the paint. Admittedly I have banged the tractor up a bit with dirt, some stone and the like hitting the hood, and I have washed the tractor not as often as I would like, but the paint is neither durable nor does it hold up well to the sun, and since my wife likes to park inside the garage, she gets priority.
I have about `180 hours on my machine, about 1/3 blowing snow, maybe 20 hours of mowing and the rest loader work. I love it and am happy I chose this machine. I guess the 25hp would have been better, but when is more horsepower not better??
