Dont get me wrong the L3400 is hard to beat bang for the buck. But before I spend 6K on a back hoe I want to be sure I am doing the right thing. The FEL lifting capacity of ~800 pounds could be an issue carring stumps to burn piles etc. The 3pt jerkyness bothers me. Last but not least the bad reports of the BH75 and limited reach have me considering upgrading.

The zinger is I am only maintaining 2 acres presently but have some pretty good projects, shop pad, house pad, remove several trees and maybe install my own septic system if the city allows it.. I do not believe the FEL I have would handle a 500 gallon holding tank.

Hope to buy 20-50 acres in next couple years in preparation for retirement.

With in reason give some ideas of what TLB with greater FEL lifting ability and capable of a larger BH. Thanks for any input. Chuck.

I would go back and talk to the dealer and see what kind of deal he will make you to upgrade. Couldn't hurt to ask, your tractor isn't that old.

I looked up the specs on your loader, it says that the lift capacity is 850lbs (500mm forward). The Lift capacity at the center of the bucket is 1015lbs. I would think that your true lift capacity would be closer to the 1000lbs mark.

The backhoe looks like it can go 7.5" down and almost 10' out. How deep do you really need to go? I have seen those holding tanks, I would assume that when they are brought in, what ever place you buy it from should be able to place it for you.

The Kioti DK35 is a 38hp tractor that will have all the features you want and more. The KL351 FEL has a lify capacity of 1,412 lbs at the pivot points with a max lift height of 102.4" (8.5'). It has position/draft control on the rear 3pt mount with a speed adjustable crank for smoother operation and a lift capacity of 2,383lbs (24" back). It comes in HST or manual.

The backhoe (KB2376) has a digging depth of 7.5' and a reach from the center point of 9'8". Also it has a full 180 degree swing and a digging force of 2,675 lbs.

The features, capacities, warranty and price are what drove me to buy the other orange tractor.

If you want some real power at a bargain price look into the discontinued Bobcat Ingersoll Rand TLB's. Their lift capacity is 2,100 lbs to 3,400 lbs. And they will lift more than that that is 1/3 tipping rated lift. The back hoe's dig to a depth of 10 feet to 12 feet. You could find one in the high teens to mid twenties. They will still be serviced by bobcat and parts are available. I have heard many times they are the most powerful tractor under 10,000 lbs. An industrial mid size tlb. Plus you get bobcat style attachments front and back and extra hydraulics to backhoe and loader for hydraulic attachments. David

what cute little stumps you have! you are lucky! the stumps in peoples yards around here are 6+ feet in diameter, old growth hemlock, spruce, cedar. clearcuts from the 20's thru 40's parceled out by big timber co. for sale. you need a very large excavator and big $ to get them out.

I'm always one for wanting more power. As my profile says, I'm a closet horsepower junkie.:D But I may want to steer you away from upgrading immediately. Have you considered renting a backhoe a few times for your stumps? You could use your loader to move them but it may take a bit longer. Then, later when you get your land you may be able to get something even bigger than planned. Plus you'd have that extra time to contemplate things and make a very informed decision on your upgrade. Now, if you just WANT to upgrade, I say go for it. But if you upgrade now, in two years you may want to upgrade yet again.

won't touch on what size tractor you need, but will want to say don't know how things are down in yur area but up here the MINIMUN size septic tank is 1500 gal and they are realyy heavy, the co. you buy it from delivers and set BOTH PIECES ,as they come in two sections.

I traded an L3130 with 90 hours for a new L5030 and my dealer did very well for me. I know I paid more than I would have if I'd gotten the '50 originally but I have no complaints. I love the tractor, the terms were great, and someone else is enjoying a great, low-hours 3130.

Go for it!
