Hey, I've been away , out of town and was wondering if McChalkley died. I sent him a personal message and nothing. Perhaps the overloaded L4310 HST custum special finally rolled and he's recovering from a 7000lb tractor bruise. At any rate, I do hope our Kubota DUDE is OK. Rat...

Last I heard he was busy stuffing the engine out of a big M series in his 4310, and harassing the Kubota dealer because the loader arms keep bending ever since he added the 8" diameter cylinders on them!

He posted just a bit ago, he's probably out pushing some dirt around, or maybe catching a little sun somewhere!

Last time we heard from him, he was trying to figure out how to put a turbo on that 4310, wasn't he?

I'm pretty sure he passed on that turbo idea after he found he could fit the 6600cc engine in his 4310 by raising the hood 18".

I know the deciding factor was that some of the wastegate plumbing from the turbo was going to interfere with his heated cupholder. Somethings you just can't give up.

(sorry Mark)

The last "private" chat I had with him was on 1/13, at which time he professed to be "horribly busy" and away from home a lot on business.

Sometimes life just gets in the way of TBN. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

The turbo was an option (damn those heater cup holders!), but I think ever since Paxton started offering PTO driven superchargers for compact Kubotas it sparked new interest (intake plumbing can be routed under the axles so as not to interfer with the cup holders - unfortunately the independent suspention may cause a problem)/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

getting serious for a minute on the suspension funnies, are their tractors made that DO have a suspension? Working I can see this is a problem but bouncing along what looks like a smooth driveway sure could use some help! Something you could lock out. Who thought bicycles would ever have shocks?

The ultimate suspension (I WANT!)...have any of you seen one of those mowers/tractors that counties use to mow slopes? They have like 5 or 6 wheels like a spider, with legs that come out that can be hydraulically actuated, the ultimate SLOPE BUSTER!

Don't know Del, I've often wondered the same thing myself - seems to me the front could be done with a little engineering. As always, if they would come out with a trick setup we probably wouldn't want to pay for it!!

Might be able to say the heck with the tractor and go after the important item (my rear end) and somehow mount one of those nice semi-truck air cushion SEATS! YEAH!

A turbo would be great fun. I have another idea. How about a nitrous oxide system with an electric switch. That should help when pulling those pesky stumps!

I know what will bring Mark back. "Hi I'm new to this forum. Are HST's worth the money?"

A lot of the bigger Deeres have a suspension option. I know its not available on the 5000 10 series, but I've seen it in <100 hp tractors.

In fact, I've got a better idea, before he resurfaces, everybody on this board should title their posts "McChalkley" or something close, no matter what the subject for a couple of days.

That way he will connect and go bananas when he sees that every post is ABOUT HIM!

I love it, Del!( Are you part-demon? /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif )

I DO like him, and miss his input to all the topics that come up. Sometimes making a living interfers with the fun stuff though. This answer is assuming your question was not just a rhetorical one and you didn't know it is quite common to throw some friendly needling in others directions on this board.

Actually I'd like me people to either like me or hate me, but not be apathetic in regards to me! If someone hates me at least they are thinking about me and maybe I can change their minds, if they are apathetic I don' t have a chance a improving the situation. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Del,

I'm just having fun, its a pretty evil errr, good idea to have a bunch of subjects with Mark's name. I to have been curious as to Mark's missingness like others. I figure he is off on one of his working benges. And right now I know what that feels like.

"Sometimes making a living interferes with the fun stuff though." Amen to that! When I walked into work this morning I had put in over 40 hours starting on Monday. I've got to finish stuff today or I'll have to work this weekend which mean NO TRACTOR TIME! THAT IS A BAD THING!
