anyone know how to tell what size (length) chain to buy. I have a old mcculloch 1010 but cannot read the bar and I'd like to get a new chain? Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You could just take the chain off and take it with you when you buy a new one. Match them up.

What length bar can you measure?

Sometimes the bar is stamped in the metal as to size. But I'd just take the chain with, and match it for size as well as length. Matching the drive sprocket to the chain is very important, as well as matching the groove in the bar to the width of the drive links. It may not be easy.

Taking the saw to a dealer who runs a chainsaw shop would be my best suggestion if the above things are not known.
