Congrats, Fishpick.
We're getting bit by a similar bug and have decided to build on our 20 acres this fall. We were going to build it in a few years, but as you can see from my tagline below, we are getting tired of noisy neighbors in our subdivision.
We're keepin' the BX also!
I think we'll end up with about an acre of lawn, about 3 acres of meadow and about 1 mile of forested trail to maintain. That should be right up the BX's alley.

Congratulations on the new homestead. If you are sly enough, and the time may come when you need a little bigger lawnmower, tell the wife that she can "use" the BX if she agrees to let you get the BX a big brother.
Just give her the IDEA that the BX is hers, and you are a hero to her, you have a brand new toy, and only you will know the evil truth. Best of both worlds.
I'm rotten for even thinking of this.
