Now I got one, a virus that is. I think I got rid of it now. It was called backdoor.trojan, got right on by Norton 2003 system works to. It infected 7 files, it said it couldn't repair it. So I did a system scan and it found them and I just deleted them. Than run a free program on the web,GFI, to find trojans, and it said it couldn't find any. Oh yes I disabled my go-back which is like system restore on yours, so it couldn't put the virus back on. When you disable go-back it deletes history on it. I'll know before long, for if it is still around Norton will find it again. I had just turned it on and it gave me a virus allert.

Good luck, Dick. If I got one that Norton didsn't catch, I probably wouldn't know how to get rid of it, unless later Symantec put directions on their web site.

Dave, I didn't make up the name honest. That is what Norton called it and when I found the 7 files, they all said that was what they were. Maybe it came in by the back door, I don't know, but Norton didn't know they were there till I had them. And I keep it up to date too. Don't laugh to hard Dave, you might be next, you know.

I'll watch out for the little buggers. I do think I have something as I can not open photo files under my user id after I log on to windows. If I use my wifes id I can access them just fine. Hay ! Were those gray market trojans ?? Those guys probably didnt have safety helmets They could be REAL dangerous. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Dave

Dick

I had the same virus.

Norton Internet Security 2003 ALWAYS picks up my viruses on the way in.

But then one day I restarted my PC and this BIG RED screen came up saying a had a virus. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Same as you - Norton couldn't repair or fix it.

Go to the Symantec site and it will give you the run down on how to remove it.

Having said that, it seemed to be removed after a full system scan and deleting the files BEFORE doing what Symantec said to do.

geez these viruses are scary.

Australia's largest telecom provider and internet host has been down to snail pace for some weeks due to the swen worm thing.

Emails have been taking days or weeks to arrive.

Very nasty /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Cheers

Yes Dave you were right, they are the grey market viruses. They came over from Japan, with the tractors. I just hope mine didn't bring me more than one. But you, that don't have a grey market tractor, you won't have a chance, you are use to them. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes njrqs, that is what I did, I just did a system scan and then deleted the files. The I got on the web and found a site, GFI that is free and finds Trojans on your computer. I ran it and it didn't find any. Its been a few days now and Norton hasn't said anymore, so I believe I'm clean now.
