Meandering comment about a dog bite

Interesting thread. I am a dog owner and believe that I am responsible for my animal. If my dog bit someone I would be evaluating immediately as to put down the animal. I would not have a dog that would bite someone unless it was under extreme provocation.

To all of you who think that it is justified for a dog to bite someone if they have been teased or if the person entered it's "space'; I hope you have good insurance.

I wonder if that would matter much to a judge.

One does not know until you are in front of the judge and jury. To be fair it should matter. It is one thing for a dog to bite a person for no reason. If a man was beating a dog with a stick, and the dog bit the man, would the dog be held responsible? I hope not.

If a man is teasing a dog and dog bites man, is the dog really responsible?

Go back to the garbage man banging on our garage door windows to tease Kelly. Those windows were single pane and how they stayed in the frame is a mystery to me. If the garbage man was teasing Kelly to a level that he or the dog knocked out a window pane and the garbage man got bit, was Kelly at fault? Or the garbage man?

Yesterday in Little Rock ,Ark. And elderly lady was walking in alley near her house. passing a house where the back door opened and released 2 pit bulls that attacked the lady Even with help others could not stop the attack one even tried to run over the dogs by car failed to stop the attack.
When police arrived the owner called the dogs off the attack. Lady is in hosp. with severe wounds.
I like and own dogs cannot see the need to keep bull dogs that are free to roam in the city.

Five dogs on 16' leashes barking aggressively(?). If the guy walks within their reach, then it is his decision to ignore the dog's warnings. The dogs are voicing their frames of mind. A Cairin Terrier does not strike me as a vicious/dangerous dog.
A Doberman, Pitt bull, Rottweiler, German Shepard or other large dog(s)
I would consider a real threat, a.k.a. attack dogs. If someone wants to have attack dogs, the person should be held accountable.
Lap dogs or mild disposition breeds should be approached with some caution, though they can usually be befriended quite easily.

If two Dobermans threatened me, they would die before I lost any blood.
