Bill, several things to ask and you check several, is the machine using oil, if so has several hours on it or was there hard hours with out enough service to the engine, oil, oil filter, air filter, if all of that is and has been done to rule out engine wear, let's remove the belt from the drive box to the deck, now removed the belts on the deck, check each idler and spindle to see if they are in need of replacement, bad bearing will drag one down, if all that checks good remove the tension on the drive belt that feed the drive shaft, then check to see if the spindle and gear box are turning ok on the drive line, if all of that should check out the last thing would be to run it with only the drive line and the elect. clutch engaged, not the belt connected to the deck, see what happens then, putting the load only on the spindle and gear box will tell if its in that area, could be the clutch (bearings in the clutch) make sure that you service the hydro. oil and filter also, if you do not find any thing when you have all the belts off the deck drive the machine to see if it is not in the Hydro. system, I have three Scags, that is one of the best and toughest machine that I have ever owned and run, hope this is of help you and will check in to see your progress and see If I can help more, Joe Dirt
