I have, what I think, is a MT 6000 transplanter with a carousel for dropping the seedlings into the furrow. Today we put in 800 sweet corn 1.5" x 1.5" cells and we had some trouble keeping all the plants upright. When we lowered the cutting depth of the machine, the carousel would not feed the plants too well and they would pile up in the feed chute. Too shallow and they don't get covered by the covering wheels. We found what is about right, but about 30% were too shallow to be considered 'successful'. The soil was rototilled and pretty good, the plants were pretty wet (which might be an issue) and the plants were about 6 inches tall and well established. We plan on using the machine with a variety of vegetables in the coming years, just not sure what conditions need to be to make this machine work as well as it should.
