Mechanical tubing & pins source?

I have gotten stuff from ASAP Source and was not pleased with the extra $5 handling added to EVERY order, over and above the cost of the material and shipping. In my opinion it makes them non-competitive.

Hi

A friend of mine built a cadplans digger. He used the mech tubing they supplied. I also have seen it at onlinemetals. It was not possible to find locally for us. It seems to be a specialty item. I suspect that the mechanical tubing has a rated strength specification, as opposed to something close, such as sch80 pipe and the like.

Good luck with your project.

I appreciate all the ideas! Thanks! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thinking about it, I bet KK uses schedule 80 pipe, rather than mechanical tubing. Seems like there is more play between the fork axle and the tubing than would be there if the rather close tolerance mechanical tubing and matched pin stock were used...???

Anyway, if I can find a piece of 1" ID schedule 80 pipe, I will see how it compares to what KK uses, and move on from there... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
