What I find stupid about these huge lottery jackpots is that it makes little sense to pay just one winner 640 million bucks...change the system so they will pay 100 people 6.4 million bucks instead. Nobody NEEDS such a huge sum of money, better to spread it around.

im sure you would have the same feeling if you won instead of passing the loot down to your friends and family.:laughing: If you win, feel free to give 100 tractorbynet people 6 million dollars a peice.

yep, i won 10 bucks in powerball last time for matching 3 or 4 numbers. cant remember if it was 3 or 4 hahah

I dont see this anywhere similar to a "tax"??? It is completely voluntary, no different than buying a candy bar and a coke every day at lunch, or whatever.

Waste of money ? sure, for most folks (the losers) Like already said, it is cheap entertainment and a small "fantasy" for most folks.

As far as who wins, hmm wish it where me, but after that doesn't matter, someone of any age will have difficulties with this type of win no matter their age.

Sure can!
In PA alone, there are about a dozen winners of lesser prizes of anywhere from $150 to $250000.
I believe I read there were 29 winners (same amounts) in CA.

In TX there were 14 that matched 5 of 5 for $250,000. For a dollar more (megaplier), they could have won $1 million.

The phone rang about a 3:45 this morning, it was work; something happened and they needed someone to come in. Since the wife didn't wake me up last night to tell me we won, I thought it would be best if I went in.

Yes, it is a voluntary tax. Another voluntary tax is the premium people pay to get a vanity license plate instead of a standard plate. I thank everyone who pays these taxes as I am not one who does so I benefit from your beneficence.
