Around here when they clean up a fuel spill they take the contaminated soil to the local asphalt plant and add it to the fresh mix then they spread it back on the highway!!! So much for clean up.

Hey...by definition that's a cleanup...mixing it into the asphalt is very GREEN...:D

Scrap yard sells lead for about 30 cents per pound.

Not in my neck of the woods. Last lot of lead I took to the scrap yard 3 or 4 weeks ago got me $1.23 per pound. Lead is a high value scrap metal.

3-4 months ago I bought 2 five gallon buckets full of wheel weights for $20.00. Total for both, don't know for sure how much weight but they were very heavy. Melted them down in a cast iron skillet I got from Goodwill and poured into small Breadpans. Made SCUBA diving weights. Fun project, but could have just bought the weights off E-Bay.

I got them from a Tire store that was happy to get rid of them.
