argonne,

Let me know how it goes! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Markham originally told me my toothbar would ship on Tuesday. Instead, it arrived TODAY (they did warn me...great people), a week early, so the project has begun!

The sidewalk came up exactly as I hoped. A few whacks with a sledge cracked the sections into a few easily handlable pieces. I did take one section up whole to see if it could be done. It came up no problem, but was too big to transport.

HERE is a link to a little photo album for the job. I'll try to keep up with it as the job progresses. The big hole is scheduled for Thursday or Friday.

Argonne,

You had to get off the tractor to hit the sidewalk with a sledge hammer /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif!!!! Didn't some one wise say that if you have to get out of the seat you don't have enough, or the right attachments /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif?

Seriously, good looking job. I can't imagine taking that job on by hand. Nothing like a little diesel and hydraulic advantage.

Cheers,

Tom

Argonne--great pics! Those toothbars are an awesome addition to a 2210. Curious as to where the ROPS is on your 2210? Did your dealer sell it without one, or did you remove it?

During mowing the ROPS would contact 6 large tree limbs, 2 window air conditioners, the eave of a shed, and a satellite dish, all of which constituted real hazards to the operator. After careful consideration, I decided to remove the ROPS in such a way that it could be re-installed in under 30 minutes if a job with a significant roll-over hazard presented itself.

What you see in place of the ROPS are two 6x8 inch steel electrical enclosures (being used as tool boxes) standing off the mounting deck with 1 inch galvanized water pipe spacers, and mounted with all of the original ROPS hardware with the exception of the seatbelt keepers. The lights are mounted on the hinged box covers, and the all original wiring goes loosly out through a hole in the bottom of the box.

I'm not delighted with the way they look, but it's sure nice to have a place to put pins and stuff.

( What does a toothbar help with exactly? Once I broke through the hard dry top it was no problem, the black stuff scooped up real easy.)

Out here on the east coast, mid atlantic region, there's no way you could dig a hole like that. We don't have 4' deep black topsoil. We have red clay, with rocks. Clay don't scoop, you gotta have something like a toothbar to break it up.

OK, my hole is done. Not as deep as megotatractor's, but I stopped when I had enough dirt for the yard. It almost wasn't big enough to bury the concrete, but all is well.

HERE is a link to the completed photo gallery. I took shots occasionally of the hole project, but the whole is in there too...lol.

I have never tried it, but I am quite certain the Woods would not break up concrete 6 inches thick simply because there is not enough weight in the tractor, and the shocks would probably compromise the 2210 backend. I do have some concrete the nasty pump truck guys dumped around my new garage, so I will try it out, but most of that stuff is barely 2 inches thick. I am certain it will make mince meat out of that thin cracker stuff.

Ciao
