I think the problem is that you aren't signed into a Google account. If you Sign In (blue box in the top right), I bet you'd be able to add yourself.

Looks like someone has deleted those of us that had stars. Oh well, it was a fun exercise anyway. I can't see a way in the permissions to allow people ot add to it but not allow them to remove other points so I guess it'll never be accurate.
