I'd see it based upon your location. If it's not precise enough...city/state....you wouldn't show. In your case somewhere in Washington would leave you out.

I don't know, but unless you used a world map it wouldn't be of much use.

That's the only reason I have...just to see how the members are spread through the nation...world.

Seven or eight years ago there was a site called Frappr that made a splash on forums, where you could put a pin in your location, worldwide. It went away and I don't know if anything took its place, haven't looked lately.

What if you are the only REAL member, and all the rest of the posts are just generated by the mental hospital's computer to keep you occupied and somewhat content ??? Heh, it could happen..!!!

You can sort of tell where our members come from by looking at the Regional Forums. There are:
315 threads from the Northeast
234 from the South
199 from Canada
155 from the Midwest
152 from Mid Atlantic & Southeast
85 from the Northwest and
49 From the West Coast & Southwest.

I would have thought the South and the Midwest would be in the Number 1 and number 2 spots.

Yeah... you can 'sort of' tell. I don't mind that the site is somewhat North-America orientated. It's kinda fun to subtley remind my fellow TBNers (read = American friends) that there is a world out there beyond your weather maps.

One thing that is likely to happen with those who don't list where they're from or simply put down "Springfield" is that your location will probably be indicated in the middle of your country... for the USA that's somewhere in Kansas.

Yeah... you can 'sort of' tell. I don't mind that the site is somewhat North-America orientated. It's kinda fun to subtley remind my fellow TBNers (read = American friends) that there is a world out there beyond your weather maps..

Perhaps in the "Regional Forums" they should add regions like Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia, Australia etc and other areas that we get posts from. I find it so fascinating nowadays that we can go on a forum and instantly communicate with people all over the world. Sure beats old fashioned "pen pals".

Those of us with HF radios have been communication with people all over the world instantly for about 100 years now.. I have personally been doing it since 1971

Unless there was other embedded data included such as tractor brand, size or maybe property size? This could show regional tendencies.

I met a really good friend on a classic car site called "Chevytalk". We found we both had similar cars, and similar likes (BBQ) and so we began corresponding. I called him one day, and we began talking to each other on the phone, exchanging Christmas packages, etc. One day he called, and said "Why don't you come up to Des Moines to the Good Guys show? You can stay with us, and we will take you to see the sights". Well, we had never met face to face, but having corresponded for 5 or 6 years, we were comfortable with the idea, so we took them up on it. We live near OKC, and they lived near Des Moines, Iowa; a 600 mile trip. We had a ball; they reciprocated the next year. He passed away a few years back, and I miss him tremendously. RIP my friend Chuck.

I am kinda surprised there are so few non North Americans on TBN. On a couple other websites I am on there are quite a few members from NZ and AU as well as other countries. It is interesting to see their view points and to have translate differences in US English and Other English. :laughing::laughing::laughing:
