Memorial Day

I wish there was more info about the people buried since the headstones often raise questions...

In one of the older sections of the church yard is a grave of a Union officer. :confused3: I think he moved to the area after The Late Unpleasantness, married, lived and died. I would love to know the story of how a Union officer ended up in my county...

You make that sound like an affront to your county.

There must have been any number of Union Army officers who were posted in The Rebellious South, after the Patriotic War To Preserve The Union ended victoriously for the Heroes of the Union Army.

So, this Fine Union Officer probably met, fell in love with (her biscuits probably), and married a Genteel Southern Lady, while performing his duties of administrating over your defeated ancestors.

Could have happened that way I think. Why they don't let me write history books is a mystery.

All your fantasy.,...He was probably a rotten Union Deserter...and was AWOL in the South....The atrocities the North committed against the South are duly written and recorded, all you have to do is research and read...The South can rise again...be mindful of that...;)

Probably a bad thread for tomfoolery, I apologize for that.

On a serious note I guess we should keep in mind, regarding Memorial Day and what has been given and lost, that wars are easier to start than to end.

Ah, No. It was a legitimate question. How did this guy get to the middle of nowhere in NC? The county is and was poor. Why did he pick this county? The county was not occupied as far as I know even though Sherman was with in a day or two march for a time after tearing apart parts of GA and SC.

Geez Brin, where are you going to rise to? :stirthepot: C'mon up to Baltimore MD, or Camden NJ and certainly a trip to Newark NJ.
You could have them all, and I bet they'd hand you keys to the cities....well, upon reconsideration :D
