In one of the older sections of the church yard is a grave of a Union officer. :confused3: I think he moved to the area after The Late Unpleasantness, married, lived and died. I would love to know the story of how a Union officer ended up in my county...

You make that sound like an affront to your county.
There must have been any number of Union Army officers who were posted in The Rebellious South, after the Patriotic War To Preserve The Union ended victoriously for the Heroes of the Union Army.
So, this Fine Union Officer probably met, fell in love with (her biscuits probably), and married a Genteel Southern Lady, while performing his duties of administrating over your defeated ancestors.
Could have happened that way I think. Why they don't let me write history books is a mystery. :laughing:
