We have an awesome bluegrass festival about an hour and 15 minutes from here. The Fathers Day Bluegrass Festival in grass Valley, Ca is great. Four days of bluegrass.

My favorite is still seeing Hot Rize. And, Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers. Red Knuckles and crew were fantastic in thier own right.

Cool! I've not heard them but will see if there's a sample online.

More great groups at Merlefest this year than you can shake a stick at. I've always loved Bluegrass but this is the first time I've really listened to "uneasy" music. The Steeldrivers were awesome! I bought 5 cd's while there and enjoy them all, but their self titled has gotten more play time than all others combined. The samples on Amazon don't do them justice but you'll get an idea wat they sound like. Give them a try!

Hot Rize was a mid-late 80's group. They did not continue after their guitarist passed from cancer. Tim O'Brein was from Hot Rize.

Red Knuckles, well, they rode in the back of the Hot Rize tour bus, and usually came out and did a set of traditional western and country swing. They were kinda jokers, but they were exceptional musicians.

Here's a local band. They went to high school and 4H together. Excellent!

Yes, my wife, sister, BIL and I were there Fri, Sat, and Sunday. Wife and I travelled down from home (NY). Sister and BIL live in Mooresville. Great show, lots of good music for sure. They had their RV at the VFW grounds. Just a little warm there, wasn't it? Favorites were the Greencards and Steeldrivers. Sister is all worked up about Sierra Hull, but she ain't no Alison Krauss (yet).

I have not seen Alison live by herself or with Union Station. I have listened to them, seen youtubes, and have CD's.

I did though, see her and Plant last summer in Harrah's Lake Tahoe for the Raising Sand tour. AMAZING!

I heard her and Plant are going to do some more work together. I hope that goes well. I would like to see her/Union Station live. As much as I have really enjoyed her work with Plant, I hope she stays active in bluegrass and Union Station...

I'd have never guessed that. Nice to hear of some common ground!

Very, very hard to explain what we took from America that kept us going through the tough times. Maybe one day with few gallons of beer I can make my point - ha, you will he happy when I shut up:D
