And I have. So far at my new, completely undeveloped central FL 60 acres:

- Three bouts of chiggers in a 1-month span
- Hornets' nest: 3 stings
- Approx. 16-18 ticks (not a one actually attached, yet, though (that I know of))
- Wasps: Several nests, but just 1 sting so far
- Two short, fat black snakes (I'm guessing moccasins, but not sure)
- Countless ant bites (no big deal compared to the above!)
- Countless mosquitos (no big deal compared to the above!)
- Countless spiders (no bites or anything so far)

This "city boy" (sort of) has a lot of red bite marks all over compared to a month & a half ago.

Hornets', Paper Wasps and Yellow jackets... OH, MY!!!

 my cell phone is on vibrate and just went off... I thought I was under attack by the stinging 'tards!??!?!!? Nearly jumped out of my shorts...

I need to get more Wasp spray before I head back up to the farm...

Keep your eyes and nose on alert for the famous Florida Skunk Ape.

If you can get a picture you can be famous! Better yet capture the Skunk Ape and you will be rich! :D

But a Skunk Ape is big....
Hairy...
Strong...
And, well, stinks.

So be careful. ;)

Dan

The more of these you have the less it bothers you. Pretty normal around here for Spring & Summer.

Endeavour to Persevere!

One of my friends says my property's fighting back!

And I haven't even done much yet, just trying to come in & tidy up some, make a few trails, get decent access, remove some old fallen-down fences.

Apparently nature doesn't wanna be tidied up

Yes, I have noticed that I used to spend several minutes at roadside lathering up in DEET before goin' in. I don't even bother any more. It doesn't work, I'm already covered in bites, & it just makes me feel weird (poisoned). I just smack 'em if I happen to have a free hand.
