Metal cutting saw

Harbor Freight has a "DualSaw" clone for quite a bit less money. (Can't find it in their online catalog, but the store had one when I was in there last week.)

If the Dualsaw is so good, why isn't/haven't Milwaukee, Bosch, et al making/made one before?

This 'Pitch Men' product looks like the Ginsu knife of power tools that you can't readily get replacement blades for once they quit making them.

I just ordered the Sears version of the dual saw. I figured it was worth a try and Sears takes back anything you don't like.
I just bought a very large abrasive saw and started thinking about slowing it down a bit and trying a saw blade on it. It's an Everett brand and is very well made. I'm mounting a vise on it from our old cold saw which worked great until we burned out the original motor and bought a larger cold saw.
I adapted a Ryobi abrasive saw to the old cold saw and it worked well but then I came across a great deal on the Everett.

JJ is quite right. My local steel supplier who also has a large fab shop uses the Makita version of this same saw and has for quite a while. The abrasive version of the saw runs at 3500 rpm and costs $150.00. The cold saw version runs at 1800 rpm and cost $450.00.
Since they are a very cost conscious bunch there they resharpen their blades. If I remember correctly their blades lasted quite a long time considering the abusive use they are put too.
Personally, I have a Johnson horizontal 1" bandsaw (which will cut up to 8 inch pipe or 10 inch steel) and an abrasive chop saw. Thought about the dual saw since it is portable and I will be building a steel panel shop and steel roof pole barn. It is a bit pricey however.
I do a lot of fabrication on the ranch so consumable items like saw blades are a concern as they can quickly drive to costs up if one is not careful.
The dual saw I believe has it's place as to the cold saw, abrasive chop saw and horizontal bandsaw. It's very dependent upon application.

Cheers.
Glenn.

J.J., that Milwaukee looks like quite a saw based on the Amazon.com text. I'll have to check Milwaukee's web site for more info on it.

Joe, I'm also liking what I see with the Evolution saws too, and that 10" miter saw looks almost like my Bosch.

I too like what I see in the Evolution saws. I also like their cutters but from the look of them it looks like they are very expensive.

I am using a carbide tipped metal cutting blade in a regular skilsaw for a lot of my cutting.
One of the blades made for this is a "Morse Metal Devil" or something like that. Kind of pricey at around $50 but they cut a long time. Harbor Junk has one also that I have used. They are about $20, and I cut many feet of 11 gauge steel (approx. 1/8") that cut like plywood. I also made quite a few crosscuts on 4" channel iron 1/4" thick. You can cut thicker material too. They dull eventually and start to take a lot of power to go through stuff. They also don't really like cutting welds. This dulls them faster than regular steel. I would like to have a Dedicated hand held saw like the Evolution, but this works better than I imagined. Try it and you will be surprised! I also use a Makita abrasive chopsaw for cutting anything that will fit in it. Great saw , but it likes to trip a 20 amp breaker on startup just often enough to be a real nuisance. A friend just bought a dewalt with soft start that avoids this.
