I can give you one big tip, bring a kid with you to do the digging and let him/her have what they find, they will love it and you will also.
We use a aluminum garden trowel for digging and a hammer holder to hold it, works good and a nail apron for our goodies. Lots of fun and lots of digging

Sounds like you found a good guy to buy your metal detector from. Too ofter it seems we hear about people getting talked into buying something more than they need or even wanted.

Now if you find it's something you really enjoy, than you can alway sell this one, let a friend use it or keep it as a spare. Nothing wrong with extras!!!

When I go out with mine, I like to carry a full sized shovel. The digging can turn into work real fast, and those littel baby shovels don't accomplish much except wear you out.

I got a free bib from Home Depot one time that's real nice for putting things in while walking around. With the detector in one hand and my shovel in the other, there's nothing left for carrying the treasure you find.

LOL, my kid will love doing that. He has his "Radio Shack" detector but I tried it and it did work too good. So I'm sure I'll give him this one and he can go nuts.

Yeah, he is a good guy. It's very rare to find someone who doesn't try to "oversell" you.

I forgot to mention that included was a bib also. Wes and I will have fun messing around with it for sure.
