Metal Detector

Can anyone recommend a metal detector? I would like one to help with these tasks:

1. Finding buried junk in my new property
2. Finding embedded metal in stumps before cutting/grinding

Any advice much appreciated.

I'm a Garrett guy, too. However there are a bunch of other brands out there. Here's where I have learned and ordered:

I had a Bounty Hunter years ago, just the "basic". My neighbor had a White and it was real good and the technology has came along way since then.

I Think a White or Garrett would be great for what your doing. I'm sure there are a few more good brands, but those I have heard about for years as the "good ones"

The only metal detector I've ever used was one made by this company Schonstedt Instrument Company: Magnetic Locators Index Works worked like a charm every time!

I've heard that Garrett makes the best one for under $1,000.

I have a Bounty Hunter Lone Star. I have had it for several years and have been rather surprised at how well it works. I mostly use it when we go to the beach and sometimes around home so I could not justify a high priced detector. On the beach I usually find 2-3 dollars in change each year. I also found a condo key for some folks that was looking at a $50 lost key charge. I think I paid $200 for it several years back. They are cheaper now.
