Metal for farm/tractor use?

   / Metal for farm/tractor use? #21
I saw a neat metal patio at a house I was doing some excavation work for one time. The man that owned it like industrial looking things like boilers and towers and natural things like rocks. His backyard patio was 3 of these such towers in 25 foot links set on peirs about 30 feet apar in a 3 point configuration. He mad his deck ontopwith handrails. I did alot of the welding on it. Unter it made a nice patio. Ofcourse his living room had a natural 10 foot tall limestone boulder outcroppin in the center of it and log furniture to.

I knew TBN would come up with a ton of original ideas, thanks.
Stevenf, I like the idea of photography stands.
I'll know later next week if the tower is obtainable. I just have one other problem. Loading it on a trailer. There is no tractor where it is located. What is the best (least expensive) thing to rent or should I go with my labor intense generator/air compressor/impact wrench and take them all apart? It would have to be moved in 7 days. Any one have any idea how much a 20ft section would weigh??

Use a set of ramps or a few 2x10's and a winch or come along to get it on your trailer.
As for a use, mount a 3pt hitch to it and use it as a sprayer boom or attach some short thin teeth to it to use as a harrow of sorts.
Or bring it to my house and I will find a use for it.

It looks like a rat farm house to me.

I've taken down and disposed of those antennas before. The best way is to find a bud who's a ham radio operator.

They're not really strong enough for anything besides being an antenna. Well, I guess if you put six of them up you could have a deer stand. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Twenty foot sections can be handled by one man. If they're heavier than I suspect then one man might have to drag instead of carry.

However, you can put them in the back of the shed as an offering to the local snake and rat population to keep them out of the shed. Think about it. They'll have a gym, trellis for gardening, and trails for exploring. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Uh oh, When Harvey agrees with the wife, I need to stand back and take a second look.

So does that mean a horizontal use of anything but a trellis might be out of the question?

Would a 40' lookout tower (5'X5') on top be out of the question?

OK. now that I went out and took a second look I can answer some of my questions. This is not one tower but two towers! The two pieces, the ones with 2 1/4" pipes, that I thought I could put together up to 40' are actually two bases that do not stack. Therefore 20' is the only height I could construct a platform. The second 20' section pole goes down to about an inch pipe. Harvey was right, antenna use is about the only use for these two towers -for the price of one. I estimate one is about 80' and the other about 95' There is some bent metal.

The distance between the three feet of base poles is about 4 1/2 feet.
The next section's base is about 32". I took a few pictures.

The baseplate on tower 1 is 8" and a little less on tower 2.
