Oh yeah Shield Arc, while in Alaska I ask my foreman (a carpenter) over the radio where I could find the galvanized weld rod, also the Superintendent was standing with me, lol, I had to show the Super. why you don't put a carpenter in change of a pipe welder. A good day to you. :cool2:

Years ago I was in a crew demoing an aluminum anodizing plant. Christmas eve morning I took a scissor lift up about 30-feet in the air, had to stand on the top hand rail to run a chain saw with a 3-feet bar cutting fiberglass duct work. I wasn't real happy about all the fiberglass in my shirt collar! When I let the saw idle down I could hear someone yelling. It was the boss standing on the ground below me, I shut the saw off just in time to hear him say get your a s s down here right now! He even went as far as to put his finger on the ground and said I want you standing here now! Well, never being one to be yelled at, I had a decision to make. Either start the saw back up and throw a running chain saw at him, or just throw a non running saw at him. But I didn't do anything but lower the lift, when the lift got down the boss says "Jesus it's Christmas eve let's get out of here"!

This thread went of topic. So here is one more. While still living in former communist Czechoslovakia I was working in chemical plant under construction. We had welder who was former ballet dancer in National Ballet ensemble. He said something inappropriate about the regime and was fired and ended up welding cable trays for our company. One time our boss caught him taking a shortcut walking on pretty high I beam. He was yelling at him something about crazy idiot so he made a hand stay and walked the rest on his hands.

Years ago I was on site for a tract of homes we were building and talking to the job foreman. As I stood there he sent the fresh out of high school apprentice to get some 2x6's. After about 10 minutes he comes back and sez he can't find any! All he could find were 1-1/2 by 5-1/2.

I've seen that one before too.... kid ends up on a broom for the rest of the day.

We've got one Lt at the next fire station that likes to make sure the rookies check the halogen fluid on the trucks and that the air intakes for the air brakes are kept clean & polished (air horns)
