Get a piece of rubber hose for vacuum use and it will be what you need to withstand the suction forces. Hopefully a parts house will have some large enough. They also have the wire reinforces type usually reserved for pump suction lines that would also work.

I can't figure out why he tried to fill it through the pump bung instead of the other bung.

I bought one of those pumps a couple of weeks ago and found the same things out except I didn't loose any parts in the 275 gal. tank. The box said 1" and 3/4" NPT. Guess someone doesn't know American from Metric or what ever it is. Pump works well but is a pain in the ....... to retro to my needs. But I will over come it.

Hi LBrown -
why that bung? - Because it's the only bung big enough to fit the filler nozzle inside. The other bung is just a small vent type.

how did I get 55 gal? - He was there topping off the house tanks, so I had him swing by the garage.

I think I'll wait till warmer weather before I try to fix anything. I can get about 40 gallons out of there as it is - hopefully that'll get me through winter.

LBrown, he just has the economy set up. It comes with one regular sized bung and one small vent hole. You have to buy the deluxe set up to get the two regular sized bungs. He also has the economy pump and thats why the drop tube fell off. Never pays to go the cheap route,it just leeds to a lot of agrivation. Hench the title of this thread. *#@*@&#Metric Pipe Threads!

1*I got one drum like that.
One 2'' bung and one 3/4 '' bung.
My other drums have two 2 inch bungs.
I don't have a big tank like you do but i get the 55 gallon drum filled when they are in my area or are going past my place so there is no delivery charge or min delivery amount that way.
