I had a frame built two years ago for my Meyer 80" blade on my JD loader. I put a tube on the blade as the only floatation for a while?but recently decided to try some plow shoes too. I may add some shoes to the plow frame too (loader) like shown by others previously?.but that will have to wait for warm weather.

My question: From the pic?I have angle iron shoe "pockets" and they are cut at an angle on the bottom. Is this correct? I have never seen another plow like this. Just wondering if I am missing something? It works OK?but the shoes could rotate a bit better. What am I missing?

(sorry the pic is upside down?.and I don't know how to fix it. ……hmmmm. When I open the pic in a new window….it's the right side up. Strange world.)

Here is a better pic of the shoes and pocket. Is that angled bottom typical for a Meyer plow?

Nobody have a meyer plow? Just looking for some assurance on the "pockets" for the plow shoes. Mine seem odd.

I built shoes for a Meyer I converted to use on an FEL QA. I built them similar to yours. You need most of the weight to be on the tail end of the shoe, that will force the shoe to rotate and run properly. You also need the front of the shoe sloped upward so it will tend to ride over obstacles. I didn't like the slow response mine had to rotation. So I welded a 6" long piece of 5/16" rod to the tail end of the shoe. So now it works as a rudder and quickly rotates the shoe to align with direction of travel.

I just checked my brackets and they are square. Mine also dont like to rotate.

Yeah, the shape of the shoe might be square, but is the swivel point toward one end?? In other words, does the shaft that fastens to the blade frame come out of the center of the shoe or toward one end??

The "mounting angle iron"(part welded to the blade) is a square cut not like the OPs pic (tapered). I am using OEM Meyers shoes.

I have home made shoes or skids for my plow.
Original skids used to be large dimpled 'washers' but skids seem to be the new way.
To be effective you need about 2/3 trailing with a turn up or nose on the front 1/3.
When the plow is resting on ground, the skid or 'ski' need to be parallel to the road surface or even a tad 'tail low'.
I like 2" wide and about 8-9" long, that way they don't dig in.
I have that same arrangement on my blower as well.
