MF 1220 - differential lock engagement

Thanks Jerry. It's great having you knowledgable guys around to save us newbies from destroying our stuff.

Is there any option of leaving it locked for a while? Like if I know I'm gonna' be in mud for a while, can I just lock it permanently until I'm done with the job? I was thinking about riggin up a little hook like what is used on the clutch pedal to keep it depressed.

No. It puts an extreme bind on the gears and axles when the tractor is turned. The differential lock should be used primarily for pulling straight ahead to get out of being stuck and then released.

Hey folks...with your great advice, I've been able to engage and disengage the diff lock easily. Thanks so much! Too bad the manual isn't just a little better... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
