MF 1246 Loader problem

I just bought my 1250 with a 1246FEL and hydraulics are a mess. The loader doesn't want to curl or dump without lifting and lowering at the same time and my 3 pt hitch is stuck in the up position. To add insult to injury the adjustment knob between your feet broke off. Any ideas on the hydraulic situation I'm in???

I have a MF1250 with the 1246 loader and also a backhoe. I bought my tractor used so I was not used to how fast it should operate. My problem was the backhoe operated slowly. Pressure was close to specs. My problem was the strainer in the sump was clogged. It is located on the left side of the tractor just in front of the rear axle. Mine was stuck in the housing so after 15 minutes of twisting and pulling I broke it so had to buy a new one. In retrospect, after changing the strainer the front loader worked faster too. Hope this helps.

I have a 1260 with hydraulic problems similar to that-- where is that sump screen?? and do you have a pic of it?? thanks much ! Mike

It's probably similar to the one on my 2310. Look for a large nut. On mine, it's just ahead of the left axle, and removing the tire makes it easier to get at-- but you may not have to do that on a 1260. (It's about 8" long, IIRC)
