I’d like to remove the diesel fuel tank on my MF1250. I tried to fix a small drip last fall by using some SealAll on the bottom of the tank where it was leaking. That seemed to have worked until the other day. As I went by my tractor I saw a big spot of fuel on the ground and fuel all over the bottom end of the tractor.
The tiny leak on the bottom of the tank appears to be right above the elbow for the hydraulic filter on top of the rear end. That gives me about a half inch of space to work with. I think it would be prudent to remove the tank and do a proper repair. The alternative is to repair in place but that would likely be only a temporary repair.
My question is, what are the steps to remove the tank on a 1250?
It has a roll bar mounting, along with the rear fenders, that surround the tank. There is also some sheet metal behind the seat that would need to come off to get to the tank. Then there are the fuel lines that would need to be removed. Since it also has a fuel gauge that woukd also need to be disconnected. I have a pretty good idea of what needs to be done to remove the tank. I just don’t know HOW to do it and what needs to be removed and in what order. There is not a lot of room between the tank and everything that surrounds it. Getting to each of the mounting bolts will be tricky but I may not have to remove some of them to get to the tank mounting bolts.
Can you help with instructions or point me to the information I need to do the job? Or other suggestions that I haven’t thought of. Thanks.
