MF 135 differential lock engaging

You can have the cold weather!!.
When using the diff lock you have to keep your foot on the pedal all the time it is in use, as soon as you take your foot of the pedal and the torque load is lost the pedal will spring up /out of engagement this is how it works,not like a truck where it is held engaged with air or whatever.

That's correct - the spring will release it when there's no longer any load on the diff lock's mechanism, unless you hold it engaged - by keeping your foot on the pedal. Sounds like it's working as it should. :thumbsup:

On a side note:
How do the 3cyl Perkins diesels like starting up from cold in such an awfully-cold climate :shocked: such as yours?
I don't see any temps below about +5C here, and about 0C when I was growing up, so we had no problems at all - didn't even need to use glow-plugs. :laughing:

Having come from a cold country Scotland wher is gets to well below freezing We never had any problem with the Massey tractors starting maybe a little bit of manifold heat if it was really cold I would say out of all the diesel engines made the Perkins is the best cold starter.

NEVER been an issue for me. The coldest I've started it in was -15°C. Used the thermostart for 5 seconds, two turns on the starter and it started
I rarely use the thermostart, and haven't ever had problems with it starting
