Hello again Aggie dad, If you are not going to do much loader work, would a 3point linkage rear loader work for you? I would still recommend power steering as looking over your shoulder and wrestling the steering would be a mistake. I haven't used a rear loader but I used to do commercial backblade work on sandpads , carparks and footpaths.

There has been alot of good information provided. I really do appreciate your replys. It will be a while before I can do much, but I like to know what I need to do when I am ready to pull the trigger on a project.

Thanks again - AggieDad

My dad bought a 1974 MF135 used in 1977 and promptly bought a MF loader for it... I forget the mdl # offhand. It's big and heavy and better suited for a MF150-165 than 135. Within a year of putting it on the 135 he broke the front axle with a full bucket load of creek gravel. Axle was replaced with one from an older MF 35 which has a larger axle pivot shaft which required mechining out the axle pivot housing. In the years after the repairs and as I grew up, as all young sons do, I did my best to break the ol man's stuff but the axle held up. It's painfully slow due to the low GPM hyd pump and using the loader or 3ph is a one-or-the-other type deal as a result. Rear ballast is needed even with loaded tires.

Over the years it has been handy. So handy that it has not been on the tractor for 5 years plus. It's been easier to borrow my buddy's kubota with loader and now I have my own JD 3005.

My father in law has a 165 with Bushhog loader that almost never comes off. Cutting hay bailing anything no matter where flat or hills it's on there. Lighter loader on a bigger tractor.

Looking at other 135's on tractorhouse, I *think* our loader is a mdl MF236. Have not had the chance to check data tag on ours.

Hi Guys and Gals!

I'm new to this site. I traded a genset for a 1974 mf 135. Oh how I would have looked this weak front axle stuff up a couple months back. This one I got was missing the front axle and all the front halve tin and the back tires are completely rotted. It does have a HEAVY arse front loader that came with it. This tractor was on a piece of property when they bought their house. They had a van sitting in the yard also. They scraped the van and then realized the broken axle parts and the tin was all the stuff in the van. They then gave the tractor to some guy for scrap, and then I got it! It sat for over ten years. I just wanted the perkin engine because it only had 1253 hrs on it.

I finally got the engine running( thanks to a guy on here). Two weeks ago I bought an axle and both end pieces off ebay for $281 inclucing shipping. I can see why they call it weak now. I think I should give up the idea of putting that HEAVY loader back on. I did get the spindles and hubs with it, so all I need to get the front finished is two new spindle thrust bearings. I'm in it for just over $1500, but need a water pump, back tires and front tin.
It is a 8/2 speed with power steering.

Does anyone know where I can find cheap tin? I thought about buying a gas 135 with good tires, but now I bought the axle!

Thoughts or prayers?
