MF-135 for $5000 or a new Chinese for $6000?

I haven't priced a 135 in along time, so I can't tell you if the price is good or not. It it was my choice between a $5k 135 and a $6k Chinese tractor, I would not even think about it. I would just get the 135. No comparison.

Having sold both in my 30 year Equipment business history, I am with you 100% on this one Jerry--Ken Sweet

A 135 with a cab???? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I'd like to see that - somebody had a long winter with nothing to do. Maybe a 1135 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

It does NOT have power steering and the dealer suspects a bad PTO clutch and said they'd fix it.

So, what do you think I should offer for a 135 that looks OK, starts right up, has the PTO clutch fixed but NO power steering?

The last 135 I owned WASN'T power steering equipped. They're "light" enough that it isn't a big deal. You will need it if you install a loader. Just keep the thumbs out from inside the spokes of the steering wheel, and you'll be OK.

I personally wouldn't pay that much for a 135, but I'm not looking to buy one either. I suspect the daler knows what he has. They sell finally, no matter what the price.

5000$ for a minty 135.. yes.. more like 3500-4000 for a well used.. needs minor attention... to good used one.

135 is a great tractor.

Just my opinion, and most of these guys have put more hours on test driving than I've worked my little Kubota.

If I was going to buy Chinese it would probably be a Nortrak, just because Northern Hydraulic is most likely to stand behind them. However, I bought my tractor to work with it, not on it; and it stinks when they're broken down. Sounds like you have a good local dealer, who would help keep the Massey running.
I ran a MF175 in the orchard years ago, and cut a little wood with it in the winter.. They're tough tractors.

( I've bought a couple Masseys over the years that had 90WT. gear oil in the rear ends. Massey specs a different type of oil. (The type they recommend isn't storming to the front of my brain like I'd hoped) The 90WT. will kill MF hydraulic pumps (in addition to making the 3-point lift work very sluggish) )

I would imagine so! Shouldn't the hydraulic oil be in the 10WT range?

Hope the PTO fix lasts while you plan to own the tractor. Else you may be sinking $$ into a vintage tractor and regretting that you didn't get something newer without a potentially serious repair problem.

Would suggest that you spend some time on the Yanmar, Iseki, etc. forums on TBN to get a better idea of the reliability and prices for these tractors on the used market.

The last time I looked Iseki was Japanese, not Chinese. I believe the same applies to Yanmar. Where are you coming from?
