A couple of weeks ago, I tried to remove my fuel lift pump due to a leak. Thought it would be easy to replace, but I couldn't get the fuel lines out of the pump. So, I decided to just replace the Sediment bowl gasket. I reinstalled the fuel pump bolts everything seemed to run fine at first. I drove it 2 miles down the road to my rental property and the engine died. Fuel pump is leaking (can't identify the exact location) and the fuel in the sediment bulb is milky white, which I think means air is getting in somehow.
I can start it with starter fluid and after about 30 seconds it'll run, but as soon as I put it in gear and put a load on it (at any RPM low or high) the engine dies.
Did I screw up something with the fuel lift pump? Do I need to go ahead and replace it?
