MF 135 PTO shaft seal, how to remove and replace

Hi everyone,

I'm stuck! Well actually the pto shaft seal housing on my MF 135 is stuck! I can't get the housing out. The retaining ring bolts and ring have been removed, but the housing does not "slide off the shaft" like the manual says it will. Any suggestions on what to try?

If I remember right the whole shaft assembly has to come out, then remove the snap ring in front of the housing. Use a punch in the PTO shaft hole and pry on the punch to get the assembly out after draining the rear oil. There is a large O ring that seals the retainer OD also.

Thanks, DieselTech. I'm going to give that a try as soon as the rain stops here in Texas. I'll use a bolt through the hole in the PTO shaft and a pry bar to lever the shaft out (sliding the housing off as it comes out). I'll probably need to replace the "O" ring on the housing so I have to order it.
