MF 135 shifter issue

Hi,
I have a '67 MF 135 stuck in first gear. In the past I've used the screwdriver method through the fill plug dozens of times, with great results. Now, however, the problem has worsened and there are two developing issues: a) the gear now takes LOTS of force to pry from first or reverse back into neutral. b) even when i eventually get it back to neutral the shifter is still stuck. Any suggestions would be great. I'm hoping I don't have to take the transmission apart!

that might be your only hope.....it sounds as if your overshifter gear selector is hanging up on detentes or is worn so bad it tips and then hangs up. take the lid off and see whats up....
