MF 135 Diesel [UK]
Greetings,
I am seeking some urgent help to figure out the correct way to re-assemble a rebuilt Quadrant for a 1968 MF-135 UK. The tractor was built with pressure control /dashpot etc. I have replaced both Draft and Position Control shafts /rollers and the support. My problem is that while the Position Control lever (inner) is "keyed" to the shaft and can be assembled in one way, the Draft Control lever(outer) is pinned through drilled hole to the the shaft and can be assembled in two positions .....180degrees apart. Only one way would be correct................... the attached images should convey my problem. It can either the config on the lower RIGHT or the one on the lower LEFT. Knowledgeable advice will be greatly appreciated.........see pics

This is not the simple answer you are looking for but go to youtube.

The MF and the MF 135 line of tractors are explained in great detail.

Clearly their hydraulic systems were far ahead of other company's designs.

Some months ago I had assembled a large collection of MF 135, 165 manuals etc.

Another forum member offered to put them on this forum so a little searching may turn them up. Search for member ACZLAN and perhaps send him a PM to help you find the material.

This is a link to one Service Manual but there are others including ones for hydraulic systems

Hi Dave M7040,
Grateful for the prompt response. I have purchased hard and soft copies of the mentioned manuals. i even sourced the original UK Parts manual for this tractor. Unfortunately, none of them specifically focused on rebuilding/re-assembling of the Quadrant itself. Some MF-135 of that vintage came with pressure control served with a MK-II pump, some didn't. Others came with a MK-III pump and are different. Before attempting the rebuilding, I actually purchased a complete Quadrant Assembly and it was structurally different (internally and externally) from the original. That is the reason I decided to rebuild by referring to the Parts Manual to purchase original support, shafts, rollers etc. I should have taken a photo of the old one I took out from the cover but I didn't. I am still hoping that a member had an assembly in its original state to advise. See Pics attached...............

Send me an American Airlines first class ticket and I am on my way to help you figure it out.

It is very cold where I live and the change would do me good :).

I will look over the material again but cannot promise I will be of any help.

In view of the British history of MF tractors, do a Google search for "MF tractor forum in UK."

You are much more likely to find people in the UK and France with the same machine.
For years I had a Nuffield 465, British made. Few in North American even knew of the brand.
In the UK, I joined a forum where people lived these machines. I still belong to it although old age forced me into a new machine.

I will ask on that forum if anyone can suggest a MF forum.

This is just a link to show you what I posted seeking help for you.

Thanks very much for your initiative on my behalf. If all fails I might have to consider bringing you to a warm place....LOL. On another forum a member suggested the Lower LEFT image of the first attachment is the most probable but I also saw someone in my same predicament went ahead with a hunch.......................that literally caused his MF-135 center housing to break in two inclusive of the top cover.................

Here is the suggestion from the Leyland Nuffield forum.

Best wishes.

Hi,
Try "The Farming Forum" machinery thread. There are many MF experts there, and also on related threads.
