( I stopped in today and the dealer quoted me an additional $1,400 for the DX40 over the DX35. Just not sure if 4 additional engine HP is worth that. The difference at the PTO is the DX35 has 29.1 and the DX40 has 33.2. Do you guys think that is worth $1,400? Also the engine goes from 3 to 4 cylinder.
My gut says that you may regret not going with the DX40, but the differences seem small to me. )
With the DX40 you get additional 3PH and FEL lift due to the hydraulic relief valve being set higher on the DX40 and DX45. Also, the gear part of the transmission (after the hydrostat) and the rear differential are "beefier" on the 40 and 45.
The hydrostatic transmission is the same on the DX35 thru DX45. The power and torque of the DX40 will make things a little easier on the engine than the stresses placed on the 3-cyl DX35.
In my opinion, the DX40 would be my tractor of choice of the DX35, DX40, and DX45. Then why do I own a TC45D instead of the TC40D? Because I didn't know all this when I bought my tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Oh yes...
If you were buying a gear tractor then all the D45's power could get to the rear wheels. Only the hydrostatic DX45 is no better than the DX40. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
