Are the front axles locked like a spool or are they open diff's. The other day I was moving some old fire wood around with the FEL and was in some pretty slick mud. I noticed that the left front tire would spin and the right would not, tractor was almost stopped by the firewood at this point. I did have the rear diff locked at this point. Just wondering if I have a problem as I thought it was totally locked in the front.

Thanks,
Jim

You do not have a problem with the tractor.

All front wheel assist tractors will do this. When you lock the back wheels and place the tractor in 4 wheel drive...you essentially have a 3 wheel drive tractor.

Right, the front axle is a standard type differential, just ring gear and pinion, spider gears and axle gears, no locking mechanism, no positive traction device.
