3-Point Hitch MF 3635 3 point hitch

The Operators Manual is a good investment for any machine. $50 may seem high but it not only gives you operation information but maintenance, basic troubleshooting and wiring diagrams. That can save you time and money in the future. That's less than an hour of labor in most shops for something you could do yourself.

Is there a possibilty that the draft and postion lever are labeled wrong. I am thinking maybe they are backwards. the one closest to the fender being the postion lever and the other being the draft lever. The one next to the fender has a longer handle on it.

Hello, brandon327, The long lever is the draft control (round head) and the short lever closest to the seat is the position control(square head). MF 135,178,240,275,376 are all like this
When not if you get your manual you will curse not getting it earlier. You will quickly tear out $50 of metaphorical hair.

If it were me I'd first just try to get it working with position control only. Rarely is draft control a must for a 3 point disc.
Maybe there's some other problem with the hydraulics. Is the tractor able to lift other heavy implements all the way up high? Some tractors have an adjustment knob to limit the lift height to prevent damage to PTO shafts on rotary cutters, etc. Not sure about your MF. Check that when you have the 3 point raised all the way with no load it is going almost all the way up. Then be sure it's going to the same height with the disk on.

Are there any pins where the lift arms attach that you can move to a higher position? Also be sure they are not in a slotted position for floating, you want it in a fixed hole. If it works on the JD, how high is the JD lift arm off the floor when all the way up? Does the MF lift to the same height or higher with a load on it?

Add PSIf the front is digging in and the back is up in the air obviously the upper lift arm is set too short. If you had to make it that short to get off the ground in the first place you have some other problem. Like I said in the other post, try running it with the position control only; leave the draft lever all the way down. Usually the lever with the numbers is the draft control, not the position control; try it all the way down on the lowest number.
Question #1
What are the 2 knobs under the seat for? I think they go to the 3 point hitch but what do they do?

Question #2
I hooked to our disc for the first time today and they tractor will pick it up plenty high in the front but not it in the back. I set the backbone all the way in and tried it in all the 3 holes and nothing helped. I think the backbone is too long. So i tried the backbone off of our John Deere which is shorter and i could get it short enough to get it up off the ground. But with either backbone no matter how i set it when i started disking the front set of gangs sunk in the ground then the rear of the disk came completely off the ground. So i adjusted the backbone ever way and nothing helped. It seems like the 3 point hitch goes to low. When you go to raise the 3 point hitch it is either up or down there is no in between? I think there are about 6 or 7 hitch postions and it does not make any upward motion till it gets to about 5. I do not have any of these problems out of the John Deere. I eneded up hooking the disk to the JD and using it. I am starting to think i made a mistake buying the MF. But i do like the MF more than the JD.
PS. The reason the "backbone" is longer on the MF is that a lot of these Italian built tractors do not conform to the ASAE standards for CAT 2 3pt hitch. The horizontal distance from the PTO shaft to the link ends is greater on many of the Italian made tractors. Also the horizontal distance from the top link on the tractor to the link ends. I'll bet when you hook up a PTO implement to the tractor you will have to extend the PTO shaft more than on your JD; you might even need a longer shaft. Anyways I'd use the link that came with the tractor, if possible.

Stil, from the way you describe the lift is working I think you're trying to raise it with the draft lever. Maybe it's mislabelled or maybe you're reading it wrong.

Please let us know what the problem was and how you fixed it. Good luck.
